Climacteric syndrome, also known as menopausal syndrome, refers to the recurring symptoms experienced by some women during the climacteric period. The symptoms include hot flashes, chills, headache, irritability, and depression.
Hormone therapy is a treatment option that is able to relieve the symptoms of menopause and it is possible to begin treatment before menopause. Estrogen is the main remedy for menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes, bone loss, and urinary tract issues. However, estrogen is usually taken in conjunction with progestin as it reduces the risk of developing cancer in the uterine lining, which has been seen when estrogen is used alone.
